You have the right to:

  • Know why and how your personal information is collected

  • Access your personal information held by Curated Careers

  • Request correction if your information is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Expect your information to be stored securely and used only for legitimate service purposes

  • Complain if you believe your privacy has been breached

 

How Curated Careers Protects Your Information

We are committed to protecting your confidentiality and complying with all Australian privacy laws.
Curated Careers:

  • Collects only information necessary for service delivery

  • Uses information solely for counselling, coaching, and administrative purposes

  • Keeps records secure and limits access to authorised personnel only

  • Retains client records for the legally required period (usually 7 years) before secure destruction

  • Never sells or shares personal data for marketing purposes

 

When Information May Be Shared

Information shared in counselling is confidential, except when:

  • There is a serious risk of harm to you or another person

  • We are legally required to disclose information (e.g. subpoena or court order)

  • Disclosure is necessary to prevent a threat to health or safety

  • Professional supervision requires de-identified case discussion for quality assurance

 

About the Australian Privacy Act 1988

The Privacy Act regulates how personal information is collected, used, and managed.
It includes 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) covering:

  1. Open and transparent management of personal information

  2. Anonymity where possible

  3. Lawful and fair collection

  4. Use and disclosure only for relevant purposes

  5. Data quality and security

  6. Access and correction rights

  7. Restrictions on cross-border disclosure

  8. Extra protection for sensitive information (including counselling records)
